UGC NET Now Conduct Once in a Year

Earlier the exam will conduct in the month of July and December but now CBSE is likely to conduct the CBSE NET annually rather than twice in a year. 

Appeal for CBSE Officers to HRD Ministry:

“We have a fixed number of people. UGC-NET exam is conducted for more than 80 subjects and preparation for each round of the exam needs nearly five months. Two rounds of NET takes almost 10 months of the calendar and effectively hampers our efforts in other areas especially the school regulation and observation which is our core function,” said a senior Central Board of Secondary Education.

CBSE chairman, R.K. Chaturvedi had request to the HRD ministry to seeking the permission to conduct UGC NET Exam once in a year.

“If you look at the number of students who apply and the number of students who sit for the exam, you will realize that the CBSE demand is not unfounded,” Chaturvedi said.

Reasons Why CBSE backs to HRD to conduct NET Exam once in a year:

• UGC NET exam conducts in 80 subjects which are massive in number.

• CBSE said that, preparation time for the exam is around 5 months, and two rounds tale almost 10 months.

• Works in other areas like school regulation and observation which are core function are getting hamper.

• Statistics reveals that almost 600,000 students apply for the exam and nearly 40% of the candidates writes the exam.

Why UGC NET exam candidates are less in number?

• Permanent faculty appointments are relatively slow in government institutions and in the private sector.

• Many a times institutions hire non-NET candidates as contract teachers to do the job and pay them below the UGC salary scale, said by the HRD Ministry Officer

However the final decision is yet to be taken..
